What a great little museum. I was concerned that it would be biased given it's in the deep south, but it's very neutral. At least the museum itself is. I have been to the prison site multiple times but this was the first time I came to this little museum. The items on display are really amazing and give you a great feel for the era. The diorama was an unexpected treasure. He spent a lot of time on it and it's a really neat way to allow one to truly visualize the prison. It's not to scale, so don't lose your mind expecting it to be. Lol I really enjoyed the write ups on each item. I expected hand-written or poorly typed signs. This was as professionally done as any state run museum. Please make sure to give them a donation when you go. I believe it's privately funded. I saw one poster that didn't appear to like the hostess, but I'm like most of the people on here, I found her to be very pleasant and knowledgeable. I wish the visitor center had a different selection of shirts. I enjoy supporting places with t-shirt purchases. I'm not big on wearing political messaging though. So, I had to pass.

Glad this museum was open on my visit! I enjoyed chatting with the woman at rhe front. She was very knowledgeable and friendly. Great museum with a lot of interesting facts, costumes and weapons.

Great museum filled with great insight of the prisoner’s experiences at Andersonville. It’s a small museum but a great size packed with artifacts from various civil war battles.

Unfortunately it was closed when we went thru after visiting the National POW site. There is so much history surrounding this area, hope to have an opportunity to visit in the future. All the local folks were very friendly and took some time sharing their knowledge of the area even though they were closing and on their way home.

This is a wonderful place to stop if you're looking for a day excursion. The people are extremely friendly and the history is very much alive

Small Museum but very interesting. Civil War Uniforms , Union and Confederate, weapons and accessories, flags, pictures. A diorama of the Andersonville Prisoner of War Camp also called Camp Sumpter. $5.00 donation to enter. Small gift shop with souvenirs.
